As much as I love talking all things beauty (as you’ve probably gathered, from my unnecessary amount of makeup) I also enjoy learning all about the person behind the posts. With this in mind, I’ve decided to take you through one of my days this autumn – specifically, a cookie baking, nail painting, candle burning Sunday I had a couple of weeks ago.
Bear in mind, I can’t always manage this much activity. I’ve mentioned this before, but for anyone unaware, I suffer from M.E., a condition which causes me a lot of fatigue and pain. As such, I can’t often handle this much in one sitting, and I don’t want to mislead anyone into thinking this is a typical day in for me – in fact, a part of the reason I chose to document my day was to remind myself how much I can accomplish when my health allows.
If I’m feeling up to it, I usually mosey over to my dressing table with a cuppa to do my skincare. A lot of my usual products vary (I’m still figuring out my perfect morning routine) but the Caudalie Divine Oil will almost always make an appearance. It softens my skin wonderfully and makes for the perfect dewy makeup primer, but on this day I just used it sparingly in place of a regular ol’ moisturiser. I’m also working through the last of my lovely It’s Skin serum, partly to give myself an excuse to buy another – you can see these two beauties featured in my evening skincare routine.
Typical days in are marked by frequent and welcome visits from one or both of my two cats. Stanley (featured above) is a big lad who likes to get in the way of my flatlays if he’s fancying a sit, while Smudge Fudge is a fluffy fool, and I love them both to bits.
As I mentioned, this was a good health day for me (I didn’t spend the whole day in bed, and that’s a big deal for anyone with M.E.) so I wanted to make the most of it by spending some quality time with my mum. We cracked into this set of Halloween cookie cutters from Asda and got our bake on, producing this messy, but delicious, set of spooky shortbread biscuits. I was assigned the task of decorating, so you can blame any shoddy icing work on me.
A lot of my free time is spent working on my blog, so I planned my last few Blogtober posts and edited a couple others, before cosying up in a fleece blanket and a pair of headphones – I’ve been binge listening to Declan McKenna recently, and I’m sure that Sunday was no different. I also spend a lot of time on the ‘gram, flicking through all your snaps and double tapping pretty much everything I see.
Cosy autumnal weekends were practically made for burning candles and painting nails, so that’s how I spent my evening. That night, I went for the beautiful Maybelline Go Bare polish, a pinky nude that I raved about in my Favourite Polishes for A/W post.
The Pumpkin Waffles candle from Essence (featured here in my candle haul) smells so delicious, I’ve been burning it non-stop. Youtube and Netflix also tend to make a big appearance in my nights in, and I’ll be burning through the second season of Stranger Things as soon as I get the chance! If anyone has any other recommendations for new releases, I’d love to hear them – I’ve yet to start on Mr Robot season 3 and I’m eagerly awaiting the return of Sneaky Pete, so there is definitely a boxset shaped hole (or two) in my life.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into my Sunday. I realise it wasn’t particularly in-depth, but I didn’t want to waffle on, and I figured talking about my afternoon nap wouldn’t make for very entertaining reading. I’d love to hear what you’ve been getting up to on your cosy nights in (I’m nosey like that, you see) so feel free to let me know down below!
Sending you all cosy vibes,
P.S. I plan to branch out into a few more lifestyle type posts in the future, but the focus for this blog will always be on beauty. After all, I don’t think anybody could tear me away from talking about eyeshadows and lipsticks.
